LG is preparing mobile chips of its own design
Information about the beginning of development by LG of its own mobile processors for communicators and TVs appeared on the Internet. Reportedly, the presentation of the first LG processor will take cool wifi name place in January at CES, and by the end of the year the first devices based on it will be released.
LG Electronics, according to network sources, intends to use proprietary processors in mobile devices and "smart" TVs.
LG has reportedly already has a chip, codenamed H13, ready for its web-enabled TV panels. Due to the lack of the necessary production facilities, a third-party company -
WiFi Names Taiwanese TSMC will be engaged in the manufacture of the product. This will use 28-nanometer technology.
The H13 processor is expected to be shown at CES, which will be held January 8-11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The first devices based on it may appear before the end of 2013.
Developing its own processors will theoretically allow LG to reduce its dependence on third-party mobile vendors such as Qualcomm and nVidia. In the future, LG chips will be used not only in televisions, but also in smartphones, tablets and other company products.
